Portfolio > Dramaturgy

I define what I do as a dramaturg by the process I have created. Initially, I am a "play researcher" looking beyond the script and into the world of the play. I must understand the revelations, then be an available presence in production meetings and rehearsals to support the director's vision while still showing faithfulness to the playwright's.
I can create art galleries or museums that treat audience members to a visual apéritif double-serving as an engaging after-show reference. I can also adjust to any budget, having once conveyed the essence of a show through an interactive installation created for less than five dollars.
Arguably, my best contributions are my dramaturg's notes. I take care in considering the audience's needs as I navigate my faithful reader to the world they are about to visit.
Traditional dramaturgy is a standard I can exceed. What sets me apart is my experience with representing devised works and experimental theatre. I have been nicknamed "The Traumaturg" for my work with Drama Classes for Individuals in Recovery, Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, Antonin Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, and in relation to my drama therapy studies and volunteer work.
All forms of theatre have a home in the heart of humanity - I enjoy preparing that home to welcome it's guests.
